Well I had a day from hell yesterday, I work with young people who are excluded from school for behavour probs, so it's a challenge every day, I'm around smoke which makes it hard. Today I have have a sore throat and a nasty cough I'm still on the water but been up since 7am and I haven't put a patch on yet because I don't feel the need just yet going to wait and see how I go.

unwell

I feel a bit under the weather prob withdrawl, still haven't put the patch on and don't feel to bad, do you think i'm trying too walk before I crawl with leaving the patch off, I just though why will I stick it on if I don't feel the need just yet, I may feel the need to apply it later, so I'm just going with what my body feels like. your thoughts ?

I really don't want to get on a soapbox as a newbie but of course you need to balance the "put it on" with a just as loud "don't you dare put it on"

That's my personal opinion.

If you CAN quit without nicotene you will have a much easier time. If you can't then put a patch on or chew gum or summat until you can. Make your own mind up about this don't just assume that all the adverts speak the truth. Don't forget it's only a 72 hour roller-coaster to be nicotene free, but, there's no shame in slapping on a patch as long as it stops you smoking.

Whatever you do, DON'T have a fag and "getting your mind right" is the best defence you can have.

Don't get mislead by "this day is bad and this one's worse" every quit is different. The bad days are when you "need" a fag but they pale into insignificance compared to the good days.

Don't think "oh no, tomorrow is day 10, i'd better stick 2 patches on" or even worse..."yeah well i know i had a fag but it was day 10, everyone knows day 10 is the worst..."

I'm coming up 4 months and i still reach for a fag that isn't there every now and then.

I found masturbating in lieu of smoking a superb distraction.

The guys outside the pub may have an alternate opinion... :p
