First Day On Chantix

Today is my official first day and I just took my first tab of Chantix - I cannot imagine that my dreams will get any stranger and I believe that Steven Spielberg may be interested in purchasing the rights to last night's drama...freaky!!! Anyway, I hope that I dont get too sick on this stuff but since I am taking a few months off from working I am not too worried...I am going to Puerto Rico in a few weeks and hope to be smoke free!! Thanks for all of your support here!!

hiya, jude here , it took 8 days for champix to start kicking in for me but im so impressed with it, ive hardly thought about smoking , when i do , its a quick one not really a craving!

i felt a bit sick but dont get that much now, and i havent had any dreams, which is a shame, they sound great!!!

Omg!!! Scary Stuff

I should have known better not to look up Chantix experiences on the internet. There is one blog that seems to be just people who have had terrible episodes .. it scared me to death!! I know there are a lot of unhealthy people out there that abuse just about anything they can get their hands on and mix drugs, alcohol, etc. but ALL OF THEM IN ONE PLACE is a very strange land indeed. I am going to stick with the program and see what happens..

dont worry to much about the champix, i have and many others, lived to tell the tale. I personally think its the best way to give up ( of course that is my personal opinion) when i have tried and failed before i found it much harder. I cant say that its easy, there will be times when you want 'something' but its not a cig, i think you just miss the whole ritual (want of a better word)

anyway i have been smoke free for 6 and a half months now, and not a puff. I cant say that i dont think about every day i do, but not in the same way. You have to remember that 'Rome was not built in a day' and take each day at a time.

I know what you mean about the weird dreams but I`m using patches. The worrying thing is there seems to be an awful lot of blood and guts in them. Without going into too much detail, last nights was about a massive motorway pile up involving a lot of police horse boxes

The night before my arm was broken and the bone was sticking out!:eek:

Hey

Just joined today, googled champix and found the site. Really nervous as I know I'm about to quit and hearing about all the side effects is making me worse. My quit day is the 1st Feb so fingers crossed it works as this is my sixth attempt to quit, but my first time using champix. Any useful info would be helpful. xx

Hi Littlemiss, there are always horror stories about anything and everything - human can't travel at more than 40 mph because our brains will implode... they said that didn't they!

It seems to me that Champix may have one or two odd collateral effects for some people but all in all, it's worth it to break the nic cycle!

Of course you don't hear much about the trouble-free times - people only talk about the bad news. My experience was entirely positive and I don't think I could have stopped without it.

I'm betting that yours is going to be as good as mine and that you'll succeed. Best of luck and keep strong

Just the bad news filters through - we never hear about successful plane rides, do we? Noooo...I am here on day 2 of Chantix - so far, so good with a little bit of the side effects...stomach upset, tiredness..but I am going to go through with it and see what happens...GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!
