thanks all! am now well over 3 and a half months of being smokefree. there are still difficult moments which annoys me as i'm impatient and wanted to not even think about it by now! but - it's so so so much easier than it was in those first few weeks. on new years eve my bf was proudly telling one of his mates that i'd given up - was really good to know that other people are proud of me too.

so hang in there everyone - it's worth it!

Certainly does. I'd be lying if I said there weren't moments when I had a kind of mini-craving but it's nothing compared to those early days when you just can't think about anything else. Am determined not to get complacent this time as that's been my downfall before! That's why this forum is so great. When I was on the first week or so I was reading posts in month 4 and finding it a real inspiration. Now I'm in month 4 I'm reading posts from day 2 and 3 and that confirms to me that there's no way I'm going back there.

This place is sooooo helpful. :)

I used to feel like I was torturing myself reading the month forums when I'd just quit - but that jealousy is a good thing! I used to read them and think 'I want that so much' and it spurs you on. Am still looking longingly at the 6 month forum - I'm gonna get in that penthouse eventually!!

When i first joined this forum i was starting my last quit. I got to 60 days then i lost the plot and thought having a smoke would help. Now i am on day 3 again and this time i will get to 100 days.

I used to look at everyone with 100 days and wish i was them. I remember boudee getting to 100 days and now she is nearly at 200.

Thats why is forum and all you quitters are so important to my quit.

Flippy,

you will get there this time. That's why your previous attempts haven't been failures, they've been learning experiences. I know how frustrating it is to feel you're going along ok and then find yourself smoking again. I've previously stopped for about 8 months and then started again for another few years. I spent most of last year stopping for a few weeks at a time and then having 'just one' (which of course it never is).

I really believe the difference this time has been this place. I can look forward for inspiration to the people that stopped before me and are still going strong, and I can remind myself how tough those first few days were with the earlier forums. (not in any sort of gloating way you understand! Just that it's easy to get complacent about how it's easy to stop and reading those early days again reminds me that it isn't and that there's no way I'm doing that again).

Here's to day 100 flippy - it'll be here before you know it.

Not what you're looking for?
