Hello, My partner has been on Ibrutinib for almost a year now and is doing incredibly well on it. We have noticed one thing though. If he bumps himself, he gets the biggest almighty bruises. He had a small one on his backside and it has definitely got bigger. He was doing some work outside and backed into a pipe sticking out of the wall - Ouch! He also gets lots of cuts and grazes when he's doing the garden. I tell him to cover up and I'm concerned about him getting infected when he bleeds from the grazes. He is also working out with weights and the veins in his upper arms and chest are very pronounced, it's almost like his skin is see through! Could this be something to do with taking the drug?
Many thanks,
Pauline

Brusing and bleeding is a common side effect of Ibrutinib for 50% or more of patients.

The drug insert that comes in every package and your doctor should have mentioned it.

Any blood thinners, including Warfarin/Coumadin, aspirin, Fish Oil etc. should be discussed thoroughly/immediately with your doctor. Any medical procedures that might cause bleeding may required pausing Ibrutinib for a few days before and after the procedure.
Hi im not familiar with the drug side of it, but before I was diagnosed I had big bruises on me just from the simplest bumps, sometimes I had no idea why I got them. I too was working out with resistance bands that ran up and down my arms and a day or two later I noticed them, it looked like someone punched me lol. I thought it was a symptom of lymphoma or the fact I had very bad anemia and didn’t know it 🙂
