I did a 6minute walk test and pulomnary function test and had a chest xray due to low oxygen saturtions at doctor's office. I stay in the 80's most the time but do get up to low 90's eventually when resting. My PCP says she thinks it is just a result of my kidney function being so low. The translplant team is asking for these results and my coordinator indicated there may be a problem for me to get on the wait list because of my need for oxygen. I do get winded easily, but not enough to carry around that heavy canister with me. So I use it at night and discovered it helps me go to sleep and stay asleep all night. I am happy about that. But it does concern me that it could keep me from getting a kidney transplant. I am on the wait list in Dallas, but this is coming from the team in my home state of Arkansas. Has this happened to anyone else? The need for oxygen keeping them from getting a trasnplant? What is a solution then? Just stop using it? I am afraid of Dallas finding out about this and kicking me off their list when I am so close to getting a live donor transplant?
Any thoughts?
