If you are listed at the transplant Center for a cadaver kidney and someone steps up to be your live donor, do they put you on hold at the transplant Center for offers while they are being evaluated?
thanks!

I don’t think so. I believe if you are active on the list, you would remain active while your donor was being evaluated.
If during that time a deceased kidney became available for you, they would give you the option to accept or decline it.
when I had people evaluated for me I was not place on hold . There is a long process of them being evaluated and they will have a whole different team than you have . Unfortunately of the six people I know who try to help me none of them match. Good luck to you .
For me I kept my place in line because they need to make sure your donor passes all the testing and his qualified. In my case my donor was a match. A live kidney is always the better option.
You remain active on the transplant list until your "living donor" is tested and the surgery is scheduled. In other words it's a "for sure" thing.
I had a living donor, a friend, lined up to be my donor. She had done preliminary testing and she was a match. She was going to have more testing done on October 18th- and I got the call for a deceased donor kidney on October 15th. And the rest is history...I am now 23+ years post-transplant! My deceased donor was a "super" match.
No, you will remain on the deceased donor list while your living donor prospects are evaluated. Best of luck to you, it is a trying time but take it day to day and be patient while they find you your best fit!
Good question. I honestly don’t know but I’m sure they will tell you if you ask your transplant center.

Dear Jamok,
I don't honestly know, especially in your Country- I'm the 'other side' of The Pond- and had a Kidney Transplant in July 2013 (yes nearly Ten Years!), from a Deceased Donor (the Term we tend to use). I would ask your Transplant Co-Ordinator, or equivalent, next time you 'Speak' to them,
Like a lot of 'things' our Systems are both Exactly The Same AND Completely Different, so it's Difficult to advise you Jamok.
What I can do is Wish You All The Best and hope your Transplant 'happens' soon,
Very Best Wises, my friend
