Hi

Has anyone taken Prolia shots for osteoporosis after kidney transplant ?

I am 23 years post-transplant and my insurance wouldn't approve Prolia. I take generic Fosamax tablets once a week. No problems.

Hi Sara, i have my transplant for 28 years and have been on Prolia for 4 years. It has helped me go from osteoporosis to osteopenia, so it has gotten better. I have had no noticeable side effects other than 1 month or so after the injection my pth hormone level gets really high and then by the time of my next lab it gets back to normal. Before prolia I was having fractures in my feet for no reason so the medicine has really helped me. No fractures since I began taking it, Good luck!
