Does anyone take Cyclosporine instead of Tacrolimus? I have recently made the change to Cyclosporine in order to grow back my very thin hair. Tacrolimus caused my really good head of hair to thin and fall out.

Tacrolimus vs. Cyclosporine
Hello I am also on TACRO And my hair has also been thinning and falling out I thought that it may be the new blood pressure medication that my cardiologist put me on so he took me off of it for two weeks and I really have been seeing very little improvement it also can be that it is too soon. I have a appointment with my nephrologist in July, but I did address this situation with them over the phone and he suggested that I take biotin and vitamin E which I just started two weeks ago. Let us know how the new medication works for you it can definitely be something that I will discuss with my nephrologist at my next visit. Good luck with everything 😊
I am on tacro too. Lost some hair in the first 6 months, but just thinning. Not as bad now, on a lower dose and 3 years in. Doc at transplant center recommended Super B vitamins to help the hair. Good luck.
Had my transplant 19-31-2020 my hair has always been thin anyway. It started coming out after about 6 months after my transplant. I talked to my dr. He told me the other does work as well as Tacrolimus . I personally would rather loose hair then risk my kidney. I am only on 4 mg a day. I take biotin 2xs a day. My hair seems to have stopped coming out.
Yes since day 1 I have taken Myfortic and Neoral (cyclosporine). No problems with hair loss. I am 22+ years post-transplant and have no problems with either med.
I’m also on Tacrolimus and my hair volume has reduced significantly, but after speaking with my transplant dr. , I decided to continue it , as my Dr. stated it is one of the best meds to protect the kidney.
I'am also on Tacrolimus. I'm 14 months post transplant. At about 7 months in, my usual relatively full head of hair began to thin. I hated to have to clean my shower drain every day after a shower because of all the strands of hair I had to clean up. I discussed it with my doctor and cyclosporine was mentioned but I was told that possible side effects are unusual growth and swelling of the gums (Gingival Hyperplasia) and the opposite of Tacrolimus, unusual body/facial hair growth (Hirsutism). The GH scared me a little and I really didn't need something else to worry about so we decided that for the time being I would try biotin, zinc and a shampoo geared towards combatting hair loss and if necessary revisit cyclosporine at a later date. So far it's going well. The hair loss has subsided. I'm no longer having to clean it out of my drain and it does feel and look fuller. youtu.be/CLRs5UdCmXg
