Hello. I got my kidney transplant a month ago. There are lots of pimples coming on my face after transplant. I think it because of heavy doses of post transplant medicines. Kindly suggest me the solution for this. Thank you

This is one I did not have and have not seen as side effects in any of my research.

But what I can advise:1. Research all the side effects of your medicines. This way, you can look at the specific meds that could be causing it.

2. This forum will provide you with recommendations based on their experience (maybe also from side effects of their medicines). But remember that each person's issue can be specific to them (including their body, kidney received- cross-match, etc)

3. Use both 1 & 2 and talk to your Nephrologist and medical team. They are the ultimate experts and know your exact history and current conditions, diet and meds. These are all important in finding a solution that is best for you.

Hope this helps

I always had dry skin and for a couple of months post transplant I got greasy skin. Honestly, it passed. I’m back to dry. At the time I bought skincare for greasy skin but as I said, it passed. I assume it is your body reacting to the meds.

Congrats on your transplant!Make sure you tell this information to your transplant doctor. Sometimes, depending on the immunosuppressant medication, they can reduce the dose and that helps with the acne. Are you taking steroids, like Prednisone? That could be the likely culprit. It has a lot of side-effects. Talk with your doctor.Being just a month out, could just be your body healing too.

Remember that we are all different and react differently to these new meds.

Talk with your doctors and let us know what they say.

Best of luck!

Yes, my name is Anne and I live in the state of Wyoming. I see now that deltacotril is a steroid very similar to the Prednisone that I took, That could be the drug causing your issues with acne. Whenever you have a problem you need to talk with your transplant center. Lots of things pop up those first couple of years and your transplant center should be able to help you.

I had the same problem even some on my back. It was my prednisone but dose couldn’t be adjusted. I went to my dermatologist and she prescribed retin A It worked perfectly.

I used retin A and minocin. Worked well.
