CMV CONCERNS 😐

Hello my extended community! Has anyone experienced the CMV Virus, if so what treatment did you receive and for how long. I am post transplant six months this is the first issue that I have encountered I am also concerned about reoccurrence

When I had my transplant my deceased donor had had CMV and I had not, I was treated with viral antibiotics for 3 months. I haven't had any problems since. However, when I run a fever, that is the first thing they do look for - CMV. I think because CMV is dangerous to your transplant, they keep checking for it when I get sick.I am 21+ years post transplant and am leading a full and happy life!!

Thank you so much for your response. I was put in the hospital overnight for IV antibiotics then they put a pic line in me so that I was able to administer the medication at home. Currently I am on Valcyte but I don’t know how long that I am going to be on at my doctor has me giving labs every week to check to see if numbers are decreasing. I still have the pick line just in case the Valcyte doesn’t work as fast as he would like. Hope that when this issue is over I will be OK and continue to thrive.
