Hi I hope everyone is doing well at this unsettling time.
I think majority of us take prednisolone or another steroid. Have you successfully reversed the Buffalo hump that developed as a side effect? Could you share your success story please?
Thanks!

Hello! Prednisone is such an unforgiving medication that unfortunately is still used because it is effective. I've been on doses as high as 120mg of the steroid and currently take 5mg daily as part of my post-transplant regimen. In my experience, there isn't much that can be done to mitigate the side-effects of Prednisone. However, what I have found is that drinking lots of water (I drink about 3L per day) can help to lessen certain side effects like the puffiness in the face (moon face) and the buffalo hump. Sometimes the weight-gain that happens with Prednisone seems to make the buffalo hump more pronounced. To try to lessen the amount of weight I've gained while on the steroid, I eat a lot of vegetables and try to do some kind of exercise even if it's a walk around my development. I know it can be hard because of the fatigue that kidney disease and Prednisone can cause. I am often discouraged to exercise for that exact reason. Just a little bit of physical activity can help though. I'm very sorry that you have to be on Prednisone and hope my words brought some comfort. Take care!
I’m 1.5 years post transplant, I called it a mouse. But, yes it will subside I do think it effects everyone differently. I had for 9 months. It went away as quickly as it started. Good Luck!
