Hi Katie,

Congratulations on your transplant. I am incredibly grateful for my kidney too, and the second chance at life. Taking care of ourselves can be a little tricky post transplant though. About your weight gain, have you talked to you transplant center? I do hear this issue sometimes with other transplant recipients. I wonder if any of your medications may be part of the reason. Prednisone can sometimes lead to some weight gain but there could be a number of reasons. Check in with your doctor. I hope you're able to get some answers and stay healthy.

I would definatley talk to your Dr Group. I was 250 lb at time of transplant. Got Legionaires disease and lost a lot. but I needed to get healthier and continue to lose more. His group gave me training on how to eat, what types of food to eat and what not to eat , watching food that bring up or down my levels. I am now 125 lbs and feeling great. I brought everything to what level it should be. They saved my life. If your Dr can't help you with that I know that there is resources out there. And your medicine levels maybe need changed. My Dr. checks my levels all the time and if they change he adjust them.
