I am a post kidney donor of three years, I donated to my mom. My question is as of recently I have developed tinnitus. I have been doing my research, and it seems that it is primarily connected to your kidneys. Has anyone else that is a donor experienced this? I also have TMJ, and have been gong to my osteo chiropractor and acupuncture. Let me know if anyone has tried any herbs, supplements, or other therapies that might have helped them, and are safe for a donor.
Thanks!

I had a transplant in 2019. I've had tinnitus in my right ear since 2011, and to this day I've never found the cause. I also have TMJ problems. I've read that TMJ can cause it but not in my case. I woke up with it one day and I had to learn to tolerate it which was very hard. It rarely bothers me now except when I am stressed. When it began I went to 2 different ENT doctors and both said the most common cause is constant exposure to loud noise, like a firearm, power tools, rock concerts, etc. but in many cases there's no known cause. I've never heard or read anything about it and your kidneys. I tried acupuncture and herbs like Ginko Beloba (I think that was it) but they didn't help me. Time was the best medicine but it was hard getting use to it. I hope yours quiets down soon.
I have tensor tymani, after transplant. It is a sound like a typewriter in my right ear all night. They say it could be the meds.
