Has anyone had a kidney transplant from a positive hepatitis C donor? Grateful if you can share your journey.

Thanks.

My kidney came from a deceased organ donor who had hepatitis C, but the virus was dormant and was not a risk for me.

Thanks very much for your response. How long has it been since your transplant and has there been any complications? Hope you don't mind me asking.

I had mine in February 2019. A medicine mixup caused me some problems about 6 months out but was resolved, and I've had 2 rejection scares ( had 2 biopsies that were negative.) My base creatinine was 1.8, but lately it's been around 2.5, high but stable. They tell me weight gain (I have gained quite a bit of weight) makes a difference so I am trying to lose.

I accepted a kidney with Hepatitis C from deceased donor (20 years old) and was on Mavyret for 12 weeks. No problems, took 3 pills every night. I show no signs of Hep C midway through treatment. After I waived my right I was called within two weeks. I had my transplant in February 2019 and doing great! I am now 69 years old and doing great!
