Hi everyone, im Jenifer transplanted 2016, just jumping on here to see if anyone can help or has had the same issues. 1 year after transplant I totally lost my medicare part B... so for the past several months I have been having a horrible time trying to get seen by the drs, getting my meds , and getting labs done. This issue happened to me when I had my first transplant in 2008 when I turned 21 my insurance got dropped could not get to the drs and pills ended up loosing that kidney. Im not that dumb to let this one get ruined because some one is making a mistake and not letting me be covered by part b. Ive called my drs. social worker, several nurses and no one will help. If you can or have any information please help, thank you in advance
INSURANCE AFTER TRANSPLANT: Hi everyone... - Kidney Transplant
INSURANCE AFTER TRANSPLANT
Hey Jenny, Definitely sounds odd, What state did you have the transplant ? I had mine here in Birmingham, Alabama and I’m sure if you called the UAB Kidney-Pancreas clinic you would get some answers one way or the other, I wish you the best of luck
I think it also depends on when your medicare kicks in too. Mine started while I was on dialysis and continued for 3 years (I think), which went through my transplant. Once that time period is over though, then you are back to whatever insurance you also had at the some time-through your job or other.
The transplant clinic should be able to help you. I had my transplant at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. They were (and are) fantastic. Any questions I had about insurance or anything financial was answered by someone with the expertise specific to the issue.
