My husband had a kidney transplant in June. He struggles with itching. Any ideas for how to get relief, it keeps him up at night.

Itching after transplant
It could be a reaction to one of his meds. Let your transplant team know! I know at first you are on antibiotics, which can cause the reaction of itching.
Itching in kidney patients is also commonly from high phosphorous, though if his phosphorous levels look good and and it's not a medication reaction, ask the kidney person about it - he might be able to take benedryl or other antihistamine that can help with itching – but check first for med interactions. Good luck!
Have you had a transplant yet.
If not it could be that your kidneys are not cleaning your blood .
I had a bad rash on my hands, knuckles it was terrible.
As soon as I got my kidney it was gone the day after trans.
Hope this helps you .
Good luck.

Hi, after my transplant I too started getting itching spells constantly! I went to skin specialist who couldn't see a problem so my consultant told me to start taking an anti histamine (loratadine) every morning which has solved the problem. Hope this helps.
Same question here. I had a kidney transplant in last october. Today I am facing the same problem. Redness and severe itching on my front side of both hands and legs.
