it’s been over 7 weeks of transplant. My all vitals are great accept that I have got 2 episodes of UTI. Doctor gave me oral medication first time , burning sensation in urin went away and I felt completely fine. Got urin Test done all came fine. 3 days, After stoping meds I felt the same issue of burning sensation. This time doc gave me IV meds followed by one week of oral meds for 7 days. Everything went away. My urine and culture report came fine. 3 days after stopping oral meds , today I am feeling burning sensation.
Any advise? anything to worry? I drink 4-5 lts of water a day.

My doctor kept me on a low dose of oral antibiotics for 6 months. It did the trick.You need this treated so go back and see your transplant nephrologist. You do not want your UTI to wind up as a full blown kidney infection!
Thanks a Ton Anne, today I met my urologist, he suggested the same to keep me on low dose of antibiotics for 6 month.. he is waiting on culture report to come on Monday before he starts the medication. He said that this Issue is common in kidney recipient and ask me not to worry.
Good to know from this forum, gives me strength that I am not alone and it is not extremely serious.

Anne - is there a guidelines of using public restrooms, do we get infection from there? How other people do. I am taking extreme care at this moment, I was wondering when I start traveling after 5-6 months for work.
For females with ongoing utis it seems many docs are starting to prescribe topical estrogen creams. After quite a few repeat utis (I'm about 8 years post kidney transplant), I've been uti free for about 6 months with this approach. A google search will get you a lot of info on this.
Oh! Your story is a lot like ours! My hubby, a T2D, has had multiple utis and yeast since his transplant a little over a year ago. He's been on antibiotics repeatedly, has had multiple visits with the transplant center and with the urologists. After undergoing specialized testing, he was finally told about six weeks ago what the situation is for him. Basically, the T2D that took out his kidneys also affected his bladder - nerves there aren't as sensitive, muscles don't perform as well. So urine can back up a bit, infections will start, and so on. And the immunosuppressants encourages it because those meds defeats the anti-infection forces the body uses. Anyway, the solution proposed for my hubby was periodic self catherization. Well, that didn't excite my hubby at all. So, we came up with our own solution - restoring the normal flora and fauna in the urinary tract to counteract all the "insults" that all his meds levy on him. (We remembered, too, that my hubby was prescribed probiotics as part of his treatment plan when he contracted the infectious superbug c-diff while he was on dialysis.) So, after extensive research, we asked our transplant team if we could use probiotics (21st Century Cranberry Plus Probiotic Tablets) we found online. Thankfully, his team allowed him to take 1 tablet a day, not the 2 tablets recommended on the bottle. It's truly made a world of difference. It took a few days, but he no longer has burning, no longer makes frequent bathroom runs, and more. This is only a suggestion - it may or may not work for you. If you do want to try it, make sure to run it past your own transplant team. Hope you find relief soon!
I take a probiotic and a prebotic plus a daily antibiotic to stop my UTIs. You might want to get a urologist to help you with your situation. I got tired of on and off antibiotics and after I got my urologist I have not had nearly as many as before! Good luck
