The count down begins. The more I think about the faster I want this to be done and over with. Well, I have been occupied with my book project. I will be getting admitted to the hospital the day before.
Transplant in 10 days: The count down... - Kidney Transplant
Transplant in 10 days
Good luck to you! You must have a living donor to be able to schedule your operation in advance. I was on the wait list when I got a midnight call saying a kidney was available. I was transplanted 9 hours later, so there was not much time for me to think about what was just about to happen to me. Well, you know what the late Tom Petty said--The Waiting is the Hardest Part!
Hi Lego,
So delighted for you. just sit tight and patiently wait. I know you can't wait to get over and done with it. It's just the excitement isn't it. What is your book about may I ask? You can find mine here: tbsom.co.uk
My book is based on the concept from the 2010 movie Tron: Legacy
Best of luck to you! You are in the final stretch now. Let us know how you are doing after the transplant.
Lucky you! Still going through the process of even getting on the LIST! I keep thinking "I'm not getting any younger!" Very happy for you. Can't wait to hear how it all goes. Peace be with you.
Cynthia
Cynthia have you worked on getting a living donor?
Only through my church choir, but no luck. I am 71 & most of them are around that age. I haven't tried anything else yet since I'm waiting to get listed. My family members are not able to donate kidneys for health reasons or age in the case of my husband. I'll take all suggestions into consideration!
Try fliers in your community anything to get the word out getting on the waiting list is fine but is time consuming. I encourage you to go all out to find a living donor. It will not effect you getting or staying on a waiting list.
The best thing Inever did was not focus on the transplant but rather how I was going to care for my self post transplant. Keep your eye on caring for yourself that way you have control. Keeping busy is one thing but losing focus on your care can be devastating. As my 7 year old grandson says when I ask him if I can help him he always PaPa I got this. Legomegamind do you have this?
Let us know how you did once you get your transplant. Still rooting for you!
