I received my kidney transplant Jan. 7, 2018, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. I extremely grateful to the donor and the donor's loved ones.

Congratulations on your miracle! Hope you are doing ok. The first couple months can be a little rough trying to used to taking all of the meds. I pray that all goes well for you. Yes, if your blood level is too high it can cause your creatinine to rise. The same thing happened to me. I think when you have a transplant there is a set dosage they start everyone on. Mine was actually decreased before I even left the hospital and then again 6 months later. Each time my creatinine would rise and decreased after my dose was lowered. I even had a couple of kidney biopsy's that first year. Everything was OK with the kidney, was just too high drug level. Now I have been on a real low dose the last 10 years

I’m sure your social worker has advised you on writing to your donor’s family, assuming your transplant was a deceased donor. Take good care of yourself and your transplant. Congratulations.

I received a call that they have a possible kidney for me but I needed to come in and give blood work. Once I arrived they informed me that the Kidney was from a deceased 20 year old male that had good health but passed away from a car accident. I told them I was sorry to hear that but was still interested so they did labs to cross check everything.
