Long term transplant survivors
I was born in 1964 ... wowww ... best wishes to you ...
I had my transplant in Oct of 1999 at U of WI Hospital in Madison
my daughter had her transplant, from me, in 1986
I had a transplant that failed in 1993. I had another in 1994 that is still going strong. My creatinine is 1.0- 1.1. I had a cadaver kidney.
Helo..just wana ask if the one failed in 1993 is from a cadaver donor?
Yes it was Tata26. The arteries going to the kidney were clogged. I was in a different hospital a year later with another cadaver transplant on the other side. The doctor at Columbia Presbyterian hospital spent an extra 2 hours making sure the blood flowed through the arteries to connect the kidney properly. I think it is very important to go to a good hospital with excellent surgeons.
Good luck to you.
God bless you
Wow! Inspiration! 2009 for me
My transplant was 6/6/96

Hi jonboy, I received a kidney transplant on July 5, 2010, at UCLA in Los Angeles,
Ca. Doing great. God bless you.
You must have one of the longest surviving kidney transplants in the world ! Congratulations to you. I was diagnosed with glomerulonephritis in 1960 and started dialysis in 1968. Received my first kidney in 1969 and now on my third kidney from my sister 28 years ago. Still going strong. Best wishes to you.

Just joined today, but been a member of the yahoo tx group for 20 yrs - after I got my kidney from my sister on 3/3/98 (just celebrated 20 with friends and family this past weekend). There used to be a group of 25+ year people - if I find it I'll post it. 1964??? not a typo? Never heard of one lasting that long. Would love to hear the trials and tribulations you've survived.
I received a kidney from my brother 31 years ago. I have a close friend who was transplanted 47 years ago. Both of us are doing well.
Congratulations to you. You and I are indeed very fortunate fellows Thanks very much to the advancement medical science. Tomorrow (6-2-18) I will celebrate the anniversary of my transplant in 1973. I am forever grateful for the extended life granted to me by the wonderful doctors and staff at the University of Wisconsin Hospital (Madison) and the generous gift from the grieving parents who made my transplant possible/.
