WOW, congrats on 31 years! I am 18 years post transplant. Besides being an ambassador on Healthunlocked have also become a Peer Mentor with NKF. Best of luck to you!
Did you have a deceased or living donor? Any advice for all of us!
My brother was my donor hero. It is great to hear that you are a mentor. If you are interested you can check out KidneySolutions.org to see what We are doing in South Texas. My best advice is to do everything in moderation never overindulge. The best thing to do in my opinion is stay in close contact with our Lord and Savor Jesus Christ. And the last thing is to love and pray for those closest to you. I have been married forty nine years in August. Everyone says that their transplant is the best thing that happened to them. Having a steady loving partner for half a decade is way better.
Congrats on your 49 year marriage! My husband and I will celebrate 46 years this August. Yes, I to believe that a strong faith in God really helps you get through pre and post transplant "stuff" - meds, blood work, Dr appts., etc. Loving life and my husband!
Both of you are awesome and cannot agree more. I am only 5 yrs post and my wife is my donor hero. Sharing our faith together has been so important.
Five years you are just getting started. Might I give you a couple tips for longevity. Be selfish when it comes to taking excellent care of yourself. Keep all doctors and don’t fret over what your lab numbers are. You can have normal kidney function and be killing yourself by not eating right, not exercising and not taking you medicine on time every time. My life post transplant has been to take care of every aspect of my health first. The rest will fall in to place. Trust me you are your own best friend.
Thank you for the great tips!

Felicidades!, saludos cordiales, Chicho
Hi I too have 31 years yes I agree with all of the above
Saludos, Chicho
