Had my transplant in2012. My creatinine is at 4.5. My doctor is recommending that I get a new fistula "just in case". Can anyone give me any advice?

Am I loosing my kidney??
Any discussion about rejection?
Hi there Das361,
Don't have any advise, though I wonder if your doctor give you any thoughts on what could be causing your cr to rise, aside from rejection? Did you labs steadily increase over time or jump from a healthy number to >4? Will you retest soon to be sure the results are consistent?
Hi I am a kidney donor and also a RN. I certainly can't answer as to the cause but my advice is to be assertive in asking questions. Is this rejection? Did it happen suddenly, gradually? Other potential causes? Should I start with the transplant center for evaluation again rather than planning for dialysis. The doc works for you. Advocate for yourself. Sorry for the stress and worry this must be causing you. Prayers for you.
Agree with the others. Find out why and what you can do to change it.
Hi, after 10 years of having my transplant my creatinine also jumped to 4. The dr switched my anti rejection meds from cyclosporine?? to rapamune and it lasted another 10 years. I'm not saying it's your medication, just sharing what happened to me.
Hey
After switching your meds did you had any side effects cuz suddenly my creatinine level rose from 2 to 4 and my doc changed my meds after which I started facing few health issues.
Donno weather its gud or no.
Am stressed.
There are alternative meds to deal with rejection. Also levels of dosage. Work with your doctor and look for the cause. Good luck.
Mine has bounced from 1.6 to 3.8 usually due to a virus but make sure you are staying well hydrated and they do a biopsy to rule out rejection.
Thanks Bert!
You need to advocate for yourself! Be proactive and ask the docs all of your questions.
