Recipient Question about function

Hi,

Does anyone know if the donor's recipients experienced fluctuating numbers with creatinine or kidney function the first 6 months of the transplant and if so do they ever stabilize? Also, does anyone know what a "normal" kidney function is for the recipients? Is it supposed to be half?

Hello - I am NOT a doctor, however, from personal experience, yes, numbers can fluctuate post op for both the donor and the recipient. As a donor, I was told not to even really check my numbers for about 6 months post op. My Dad, the recipient, was watched very carefully for the first 6 months and yes, his numbers fluctuated as well. Eventually, we both stabilized very nicely! The best advice is for you to speak with your nephrologists about your specific situations.
