I have finally (omg, so many tests and a biopsy, and ALLL the urine) been approved as a donor and entered into the registry. I'm B+, and I wanted to create a chain... How long do you think it will be before they have a match?
How much lead time?: I have finally (omg, so... - Kidney Donation
How much lead time?
Hard to say, but I truly hope it's SOON! My brother and I have been waiting over a year for me to give him one of my kidneys! I had all the tests done and we're a match but because my kidneys have extra arteries and veins, some places don't want to do it! We are now waiting for UCLA to take a look and hopefully we'll know by the end of the week. I would definitely do this all over again, but it has been a very frustrating and complicated process. Good luck and thanks for being a donor!

Fantastic! You're an AMAZING person to want to do this -- even after ALL the tests - and just to start a chain -- even a bigger WOW!
Each situation is very different, and there is no set time for the motions to start showing results, but I can assure you, there is motion! It sounds like you're working with a transplant center and believe me, they know what is required to get a chain going!! What will be interesting is HOW BIG the chain will be! You know that the last person in the chain will be one lucky person waiting on THE LIST....the others in between will likely be pairs of people who don't match each other, but with your help, the chain will be formed!
Best of luck and please keep us posted on this site!
Still waiting. no news. no updates.
