Hi Sean I was a donor in 2015 and would do it again if I could. Thanks for considering being a donor. Check out the National Kidney Foundation website for lots of accurate information. Also call your closest transplant center. They all have free classes. Best of luck.

I donated a kidney to my sister way back in 1999! We are both doing great. It made me feel wonderful that I could save a life, especially my sisters life. I would do it all over again if I could!!

Dear Sean, What a wonderful gift. I am waiting for a kidney and would recommend that you begin by making an appointment with your local transplant center (usually associated with a University Hospital). They will start out with general requirement. Must be 18 years of age and over with good physical health. Of great importance are areas such as B/P, blood sugar problems and heart/lung functioning. If broad questions show no problems you will begin the testing process. Blood test. X rays and diagnostic testing are ordered. This is as far as my friends/family got in the process. If all your test are normal I would suppose you would be paired with a person in need of a kidney. I wish you great luck. At the very least you will get a great physical exam and who knows you might end up saving a persons life in a most spectacular way. I can only give specific information/contact persons in my area of University of Alabama in Birmingham. Good look with your noble quest. Keep us informed in your journey. 🌷

Thank you very much. It is responses such as yours that really help to inspire me into wanting to follow through with this. I am still unsure of what the future holds however if I continue getting such heartfelt messages such as yours that will help me to make a more final decision. Once again thank you and God Bless.

Hi Sean, my husband is in need of a kidney from an O blood type donor. He's a grandfather to 4 grandkids, a father to 3 children, of course my husband. If you're still considering donating a kidney and if you're a blood type match, can we discuss further?
