hello

New to group I just been told I need my kidneys are failing ,Waiting for appointment to tube in my stomach .

Pretty worried, Avid surfer

Want to keep surfing.

Anyone with information please respond aloha

Aloha, you can get a band that is waterproof which will hold the tube for you in PD. Just make sure it if tight. But I would also check with the clinic where you are assigned about it.

Salt water activities are generally fine for PD patients, just get clearance from your nephrologist. Various PD belts are available (see online sites) to keep the catheter secured. Some prefer to securely tape the catheter in place. My husband experimented to find his preference. If you can, try to get a referral to a great surgeon from a nurse working with PD patients directly. S/he will know which surgeon does the best work in placing the "right" cath in the "best" place to accommodate your body type and life style.

Amazon sells a waterproof disposable bandage..(.used to cover new tattoos while swimming ) ..they come in various sizes and they work great. I coil my tubing and cover it while showering too, you can never be too careful to not get bacteria into your Peritoneal....As always, get the okay with Doctor
