I would like to build a website to help people on dialysis. But since there are so many factors to consider, I'm hoping to get insights

What kind of website do you think will be most beneficial in helping people on dialysis? a social website that people can connect and share their experience online? maybe share information to better educate patients? Perhaps a website that allows people to share their feelings? pain, frustration? Please help me by sharing your thoughts?

There are dozens and dozens of websites now available that provide all and more. Have you looked at any of them? NKF, AKF, AAKP, HDC, HDU, DAVITA , FRESENIUS, DPC, PKD, ALPORTS,FSGS, BAXTER, OUTSET, QUANTÁ, TABLO, NXSTAGE ... you get the point.. BLESSINGS

I have been to several of these websites but their intention might seem beneficial to patients but they are often trying to sell something. Don't you think it is better to have a website that centers around patients instead of trying to sell services, ideas, and products?

As far as I know *NONE* of the websites I mentioned sell anything. They are there to support, inform, educate the patient. The mission of each website I gave is to support, educate and patient-centered above all. They have NO products to sell. They may have apparel, buttons, cups etc but no specific products produced and sold. Since there is no cure for CKD, it's about educating and empowering patients through dietary changes support and more. I would certainly re-consider checking out the websites I've given as none require or sell products as curative merchandise. You are mistaking the sites. Blessings

I'm not trying to convince you of anything. You can always model your site after a combination of a few or many of those I listed. Support for dialysis patients is always welcome

Thank you, and you are right about the need for more support.

Are you in the U.S.? Have you ever attended a conference by AAKP, ASN, ADC or NKF spring clinicals, or an AKF or NKF walk? They are very informative and could provide you with oodles of information and ideas for your own website? Also each of these organizations have Facebook pages and presence on LinkedIn and Twitter. Blessings

Yes. A website for sharing experiences and connect with other dialysis patients. A forum that’s not Facebook. I would appreciate it. I’ve never found a good one yet except this one is helpful at times.
