I've been doing home hemodialysis for 20 years. Training time depends on how you learn and pickup the knowledge. We trained on a standard machine took us 6 weeks 3X week, but now most train on a NxStage machine. Check out their website. Why are you afraid of doing home hemo? You will be trained well in troubleshooting, emergencies and have 2 24hr phone numbers for problems that may arise. In all my years I've never needed to call for an ambulance or had a problem that was an emergency. I'm happy to answer any questions. Blessings
I started home PD 2 months ago. The training through Devtia lasted two weeks. The staff is very knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate.
I haven’t had any issues doing my treatment at home. It’s nice to hook up at night and then just sleep. You wake up the next day and disconnect then go about your day.
It takes time and patience to get used to the new eating and drinking guidelines, but after a while it becomes a habit.
I hope this helps. It’s ok to be scared, I was. My nurse and family helped to ease my stress.
Best wishes

Are you thinking about the somewhat newer solo home HD or will you have a partner with you as you dialyzing at home?

I am starting my home Hemo training next week. I'm nervous as well but I think this is the best process for me. I'll be solo with a NXStage. I keep hearing it isn't that bad. I'm trying to keep an open mind. I could sit and cry about or be brave...I choose to be brave. Lots of people do it, I can too!
