How long does treatment last each night? I see a lot of people talking about 10 hours. Also, does it depend on how advanced the disease is?

How long does treatment last at night when on home PD at night?

My nephrologist has said this is individualized. It depends in part on how large the person is, in part on how much renal function the person has left, whether the person is still eliminating fluid, and the functionality of the person's stomach lining.
When talking with persons who have been on or are currently on PD it also sounds like the other important variable is how well the personnadhetes to the dietary and fluid restrictions ...
Consequently, some people talk about 10 hours on the cycler at night and then a manual exchange in the middle of the day. Others don't do a manual exchange in the middle of the day, etc.
So I'd suggest you visit with your nephrologist about this to hear what she or he is thinking you will need.

Like Jayhawker had said, it is very individualized and depends on remaining kidney function, size, fluid retention and other factors. I personally did roughly 8 hours each night with no need for dialysis during the day, but my KT/V, which measures how well you dialize was very good, and I followed my diet and fluid restrictions accordingly. I also still had about 9-10% kidney function left, so the only thing it could do was remove fluid. Some people just need more time than others; I met someone who was a little bigger than I was, but needed 10-12 hours of PD. Unlike me, who was still able to pee/eliminate waste from my kidney, hers were completely failed so dialysis was her sole way of removing waste/fluids. Your nephrologist will know more and your treatment will be tailored to your needs. Don't fret if you need more time! It's all part of the process.
Like the others said there are a lot of variables to this answer. I’m on the machine for 8-8.5 hours each night; I’m “dry” during the day. I still void quite regularly- my issue is my kidneys no longer remove the toxins from my body, so hence the dialysis. The doctor will figure your prescription after a 24 hour urninalyisis using your creatinine clearance and KTV.
Yes it depends on each person kidney function,i was on PD for 3 years 7 days a week 10 hours a night,i was an early riser do when i woke up,i would usually have to wait for the cycler to finish🙏😝
