If he is in renal failure he may be retaining fluid. I recommend that you speak with his physician or perhaps take him to the emergency room. It may be possible that he needs emergency dialysis.

Go to his physician, as far as I know when a doctor ordered dialysis it goes on medicare immediately, kidney center might help you figure out how to get the 20% paid. (medicare pays 80% ) or like Yolly said go to emergency room.
