im new here. im English been on dialysis for 4yrs. would like to hear from you

Hi Leeper!

I'm on in center hemodialysis in the US. I'd really like to hear what dialysis is like in the UK. Are you allowed to self-cannulate? How long are your sessions? What is the weirdest thing you've seen happen at your center?

hi xalamander. thanks for your questions wish I could answer them but ive never had dialysis in England. I have wanted to but it is over $300 a treatment. I used to go for 3wks.I go to a small center here in san Antonio 20 beds. but we are like family .ive had some really good laughs

Hi Leeper!

Oh well, I shouldn't have assumed you were in England. The center you are at sounds better than mine anyway (here in Washington state), most of the patients keep to themselves and the staff won't tell you anything about the other patients most of the time. People come and go and you have no idea what became of them. That is one of the main reasons I joined this site, so thanks for the chat, it's nice to "meet" you!

good hearing from you again.im sorry to hear about your center.i started at 5am but would go home and sleep all day so I asked to go to the second shift at 8/30 that way I had a good nights sleep. we sit in the same chair and have the same tech every treatment. yes our center is fun. we have bingo once amonth and we are involved. and ive heard of centers like yours but they are much larger than ours. I look forward to hearing from you again . it is nice meeting you also

hi xalamander I hope your doing well. the reason im texting is to tell you I spoke with my daughter in England and she said yesyou can self'-cannulate in England , they also have treatments for 5, 4,3, and 2/1/2 . hope you find this interesting. have a good weekend
