To guard the health of your new kidney, the hospital should have given you a recommended diet plan to follow. If they did not, contact your nephrologist. It is very important if you want the best outcome. I was given a plan based on my labs and how well my kidney function was functioning upon my release from hospital. Your diet may be motified later based on your kidney function.
I agree with Dezin's answer. Diet is individualized - everyone is different. So your diet depends on your team's recommendations and your history. My husband was told to avoid eating starfruit, grapefruit, and seville oranges because of their direct impact on his immunosuppressants. My husband also discovered his transplant meds gave him diarrhea so he cut back on salads, etc. And then his immunosuppressants caused his diabetes to return so he avoids eating items with lots of carbs and sugars. But you may not have these problems. In general, a kidney transplant widens your food choices. But, as you can see, humans don't have the exact same blueprint re conditions, prescriptions, etc.as others. It's important to consult your transplant team re your diet (and also meds that other doctors may want to prescribe for you).
Not trying to be nasty but didn't the transplant team, the hospital, the dietician give you that advice? If not I find it odd.
