Recent labs indicate low wbc. Feeling dizzy, lightheaded, more fatigued than usual, headache, palpitations, more insomnia. BP has fallen to 100/60, p 50-60's. Have held bp med couple times for too low bp.Read that leukopenia and B-12 deficiency can contribute to Anemia. All other labs good. Still considered Stage 2 CKD.
Vit. B12 lab ok, but I haven't been eating much animal protein, fish or dairy since dx., mostly plant based diet.
Anyone else had leukopenia, symptoms and did your doctor discuss ways to increase count?
Follow-up appt's May & July, but feel more crappy now. Won't dare drive! Don't want to wait till May to see Neph.

I too have low RBC, low WBC and low B12, and now take B12. My Doctor ordered a B12 shot when it was very low. The Doctor is watching the anemia and am going for more blood work.
All other counts ok, including Vit. B-12 /iron. H&H improved too. I tried vegetarian diet years ago without supplemental iron. Severe anemia followed a year later. Prescribed 325mg iron daily 1-2 months. H&H normal again, then started eating chicken, fish again. No iron supplement needed. My body unable to adapt to vegetarian diet. B-12 abundant in chicken, fish, red meat, dairy. Wbc/Rbc health dependent on these. Stuck between rock & hard place where ckd concerned.
Thanks orangecity for response. Thought my symptoms were more related to SE Losartan, but after more reading, definitely related to low cbc/wbc. If diet adjustment doesn't accelerate ckd progression in my case, then hopefully B-12 can wait a while. 🙏
Be very careful of going on a "renal diet" without guidance from your doctor. That diet usually isn't recommended for those in CKD stages 1, 2, or 3. When one is on it, labs need to be taken frequently to monitor levels of crucial electrolytes and related. Letting numbers go too low can not only damage kidneys further, but also lead to questionable results in other organs, in the blood, in the bones, etc. Without full knowledge, the outcomes can lead to doctors to order up unnecessary tests for cancers and so on. It would be good for you to have a chat with your doctor(s), particularly if they're unaware of your dietary restrictions.
I am being monitored by Neph. Cardio., PCP, Rheumatologist and have established care with Renal Dietitian and have another appt. scheduled w/dietitian early March. Labs q 3-6 months related to Anemia, CKD. & annual Rheumatology for autoimmune disorder. Although I'm early stage ckd, I have other diagnoses that require routine labs. Was a shock being diagnosed initially w/Stage 3A ckd, first eGFR 55, Jan. 2022.I appreciate your advice, and that of all on this forum. I've learned so much by each individual's experiences.
Excellent! I always worry about people taking off on their own on a whim without being followed by professionals and then falling off the planet. It makes sense you have additional issues. Conditions such as autoimmune conditions can be particularly stealthy. Sending you, and your team, all the encouragement in the world in keeping your health on track. You deserve a quality life.
Thank you. From what I've read on each post, we all have a story about life, or family & loved one's we care for. Trying hard to focus on living life and staying close to family. I have much to be thankful for.I wish you and the rest, the best outcomes as we journey through these experiences together 🙏
