Hi everyone!

Please pardon my english.

I am a ckd stage 2 patient and also diabetic and hypertensive. Recently, my endocrinologist prescribed me .5mg of Ozempic then started to feel the side effects. I easily get tired, belching, constipation, gerd, muscle pain that feels like i am about to get flu. I don't know if is just me or these are the common side effects of Ozempic. Also, I read somewhere that it could also causes CKI. Though I asked my endocrinologist about its safety for my kidneys and told me that it is safe.

Could anyone please share their experiences with ozempic and if it is safe?

TIA!🩵

Here is a reply I wrote someone else. I am still on Ozempic .25 and I am stage 5. My A1C lab from yesterday was 5.0....it works for diabetes. Not so much for weight loss for me.

hi! Thank you for your response. I just started Ozempic last Sunday, and now loss about 2 kilos which makes me worry and it bothers me so much because i find it drastically losing weight. Though my endocrinologist told me if i reach my weight goal she'll prescribe another medication for my diabetes. Though I am trying to eat so i will not loss weight so much but the thing is Ozempic did weird thing to my taste buds. Sometimes food taste differently now. I am not sure why or how.

You are probably losing what they call water weight first. 2 Kilos is only a little over 4 pounds..... which is great to lose, but I would not be worried, It should slow down. If not, cut the Ozempic back , but check with the doctor.

I think my body is adapting to it. It is my 5th day today and so far some of the side effects have subsided a little bit. Hopefully by day 7 my body is use to it. 😊

I've been on Wegovy for almost 3 years. I started with the lowest dose of Ozempic and gradually increased to the full, maximum dose of 2.4 a week. Dr. usually taper people up to minimize side effects. I didn't have any side effects. The kidney transplant program wanted me to lose weight. I've plateaued, but still need to keep using Wegovy so I don't regain the weight. Wegovy is the weight loss dose of Ozempic.

yeah, my nephrologist told me that i need to loss weight but due to my PCOS its hard for me. I am not sure if wegovy is available here in our country. Thank you for your kind response.😊

Even with the wegovy I'm not losing. I eat one a day. I work out 5 nights a week. As a life long fat person who is now post menopausal, insulin dependent diabetic with multiple disabilities and a very slow metabolism it just isn't happening. My metabolism is so slow I get chills and shake when I eat at the blood rushes to my digestive system. The kidney dietician wants me to lose weight by increasing my calories and reducing my exercise. My endo wants me under 800 calories. I can't get there, under 800 so I hover and pray they won't kick me off the list.

Since i started ozempic, i am having itchy skin at night. I will also tell this to my nephro since i read that itchy skin is also a sign of ckd.

I think constipation is 1 of the side effects of ozempic, try to eat foods that are high in fiber. I think oatmeal is effective for me. Its really hard for me too to lose weight. Sometimes its kinda frustrating but I have to continue trying. 😊

I have been on Ozempic for about a year and a half. Have been overweight for 35 years. Neph told me to lose weight too. I have lost over 25 pounds on Ozempic, am up to 2.0 but it has been slow. However it has finally worked to get my A1c back to normal ranges. I am sedentary and do very little physical activity, so could probably lose more with walking. It is hard for pharmacy to keep the drug in stock around here. Am thinking abot Mounjaro, but I want to learn more about it. My renal dieician says Ozempic helps you lose the body fat, not necessarily water weight. I can tell that, just from my fatty deposit areas. Both her and my pcp have patients who have lost 60 pounds on Ozempic. I will stay on it or something like it now forever.
