I am confused by some of the renal diet restrictions. For example: various recommendations say don't eat beans because of potassium.. When I read the label on the can it says 0 potassium. Thanks for your patience

Whay beans are you referring to? Just about everything has a trace of potassium in it. Look at the serving size also. 1/2 cup of something is nothing and most people way more than that.
Beans are terribly high in potassium and this is 1/2 cup which is nothing
Food STANDARD Portion POTASSIUM (mg)
Kidney beans, cooked 1/2 cup 359
Split peas, cooked 1/2 cup 355
Navy beans, cooked 1/2 cup 354
Great northern beans, cooked 1/2 cup 346
I too have had to cut back on potassium based on bloodwork and watch beans on my diet. I sometimes have small serving.
Beans are also considered high phosphorus- high phosphorus people often mistake phosphorus for protein or v/v. Best of luck.Check out kidneyschool.org
I like dialysis supplement called Nepro. It helps digestion.
There is no one size fits all "kidney diet," no matter what you read. "eat to your labs" is a better mantra. My CKD is from dehydration. I need tons of potassium and salt to keep as much water as possible in my system an through my kidneys. I have an ileostomy and most of what I drink goes straight to my bag. People with high blood pressure need to avoid salt. We aren't all the same. Learn about your specific case of CKD, your specific labs, and your specific needs.
