I took Ibuprofen a month and a half ago for two days. Both kidneys were affected and in pain, and I had symptoms of kidneys failure, such as loss of appetite, itching, metallic taste, and sometimes shortness of breath.

I do not have high blood pressure or diabetes

All my lab tests are fine, my gfr is normal, I only have symptoms, is there anyone who can advise me what to do?Has anyone had an experience؟

Ahh, taking ibuprofen for two days does not long term affect the kidneys, as your tests show. If you said for two years, I would say it does, But don't keep taking it if it caused you symptoms.

If your blood test are ok you have not to be worry. Brufen is harmfull for kidney but in larger quantity for longer time. And not all are having same reaction. Most likely your synthoms are not from kidney. Guess you can sleep relaxed about this. rgs

Hi, I was diagnosed with CKD and they originally stated it was due to taking ibuprofen, however, after having more tests it is now apparent that I have Sjogrens which can attack the kidneys. Maybe worth having some other test, but if your GFR is ok that’s a good sign

Taking ibuprofen for only 2 days isn't going to cause kidney failure, and you have labs to prove your kidneys are fine. It must be something else causing your symptoms. Just the same, ibuprofen is nephrotoxic, so maybe lay off it.
