Yes Google can generally be confusing but (worse) inaccurate by nature - with limited or no qualification of content - which could be serious for health.
Have you considered a qualified, naturopathic nutritionist specialises in CKD? If not, why not?
Our experience with medics (including mum's nephrologist) is that they cannot or will not offer relevant nutritional advice. That's likely because they are unqualified and so not insured - despite numerous, prominent medics openly offering such advice in general medical areas
its best to diet to your labs and your CKD stage. Everyone is different with different labs and at different stages of CKD. . For example , I may not have problems with potassium, but you do so we both need to eat some different foods. If you can, it's best to consult with a renal dietitian. I've found some help with the Davita website and also the National Kidney Foundation.
I agree drmind. My CKD diet is based on results of bloodwork for sodium, potassium, and phosphorus Davita also has a diet tracker and some good recipes.
Yes, ask your nephro and see a renal dietician. They will advise what YOU need, based on your particular numbers and your own other health issue. I have to take a potassium-blocker and also closely monitor foods I choose to make sure they are low in potassium and salt. Also in a low-residue diet for gastro & esophageal issues. It's very hard at first to combine those 2 diets, but it can be done eventually with a lot of work and comparing food tables into one that works for you when shopping, etc. I liked it better when I could eat what I wanted! Lol. Strangely, I miss bananas, but know I can't have them. Oh well! Good luck
It really depends on where you are at in your CKD journey. Some veggies need to be avoided if you are on dialysis, but are fine for others. I would recommend talking with your doctor to find out what nutrients you need and what you need to avoid. Then talk with a dietician to develop a plan to accomplish those goals. Too much on Google is not specific to your situation.
I have been able to take improve my kidney function by researching on foods, herbs and beverages which were best for me.
Please research for your self based on the book:
Thank you everyone for your response. I'll take your advised. I've set an appt with the nutritionist. Appreciate your kindness..
Great you have made an appointment with a nutritionist. Keep us posted on your progress.
