Hi ya all,

Found out all the above due to a blood test after losing 10Kg in 11 months. I am alread skinny, went down to 52Kg usually was around 60 to 63Kg.

Anyway anybody have had to deal or dealing with this all together. Awaiting a visit to an endocrinologist. Over all I am in good form though tire easily. 61 years old. Active and ate well all my life.

I have started taking BP med and Cordyceps sinensis.

Thanks Gerry

Yes I have all three. I have Graves Disease which causes hyperthyroidism. The endro can prescribe meds that help. I've been in remission now for ten years. I find that keeping stress down helps keep me there.

I also have hypertension and take meds for that. I watch my sodium, never add salt, don't eat fast foods, packaged foods, etc. I also walk 30 min a day when I'm not tired.

I also have stage 4 CKD with a eGFR of 16 last labs. I see a nephrologist and am going to see a transplant center to see about getting on the list. I'm not on dialysis and would like to get a transplant before.

All of this can be managed through diet, exercise and meds as needed. I eat mostly plant based, stay away from foods that aggravate my thyroid. It's a balancing act. I'd be happy to chat with my about my experiences with all three.

Hi Hoesie63, Thanks for your reply. my eGRF = 25 right now, will see an Endo as soon as I can, great to hear you have kept it in remmission for so long. I have been 90% plant based for over 40 years almsot never ate processed food, I teach Tango and until Covid did Aikido a few times a week. I don't have any overt symptoms except for weight loss. So it was a BIG suprise. Anyway I feel ok and have started acting right away. We will how it rolls. Cheers Gerrysan

One down 2 to go. I went to the Endocrinologist today to be told my Thyroid was back to normal WOOHOO. He thought I was on medication but I am not. He said he had never seen this before. 1st blood test was August 12, my GP gave me the diagnosis August 29th

T4 34.2

T3 9.8

2nd Blood test was September 12th saw the consultant September 15th back to normal.

T4 14.9

T3 5.3

My eGFR is the same in both tests I wil see a nephrologist in December.

I am on BP medication, I will be working to get off this Here's hoping all sorted by Christmas.

Generally hyperthyroidism is due to late stage CKD. Be sure they test all thyroid levels my “regular” thyroid labs are good but parathyroid is 496…ugh! As far as symptoms I didn’t have any/many either until the last couple of years when my poly-osteoarthritis finally put me almost completely in a wheelchair and I couldn’t exercise as I used to but I have been stage 4 since 1996. So keep up the good work! Control the HBP and you’ll save kidney function. My best to you!
