Increasing liquid intake while on dialysis

It is over ten years since I received renal dialysis and ninety years since I was born. I owe my life to Guy’s Hospital - and to myself and, I suspect, to someone’s prayers for my experience is considered almost miraculous. At one point I was given thee years to live and my daily urine output barely covered the bottom of the specimen tube. Then, fortunately, it occurred to, me: “Considering my kidneys are being so lazy, why should they be allowed to rest while I am sleeping overnight?” I was still on dialysis but I doubled my liquid allowance, making sure I awoke periodically so as to spread the extra intake throughout the night. Immediately my urine output responded and I was able gradually to increase my water intake until it had returned to normal. Be warned, though, doctors and the medical press do not condone this - or rather they ignore my argument when it is put to them - presumably because it is unofficial and and has not been submitted for “trials”. Meanwhile death continues to threaten renal sufferers. Hence why I have had to resort to the web. Of course, adopting this procedure becomes each person’s responsibility, I just feel fellow kidney sufferers may find my experience of interest.

God bless you and continue doing what works!! All the books and medical documentation can't replace real life and for whatever reason something might be working. I suspect alot of people on here have branched out on their own here and there no matter how big or small the issue and found that it's doing the trick for them (within reason of course). Good on Ya! Keep going. 🙏🏻😎👌🏻
