just wondering if there’s anybody out there who has just been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease?

My kidney function is 37 and I’ve just had a biopsy and am awaiting results.

Thank you 😊

So sorry to hear this . Follow everything your doctors says . And get diet teaching from a nutritional consultant who is trained for Kidney diets .

And read online about proper diet from good science based sources.

DeVita lists best 10 foods to eat . Look up their website .

Good luck I will keep you in my prayers

Thank you for the site reference. I am wondering what foods to eat, especially since I have so many restrictions due to allergies and migraines.

I can see your in the UK as am I and try not to worry, wait for the results of the biopsy and has your GP referred you to a Nephrologist? In the UK it may be different and if your Nephrologist wants you to stick to a diet he'll refer you to a Renal Dietician. I'm in Kent and the Renal Services are very good.

Hi there, Kent is not so far away I was in Deal a couple of weeks ago!Yes my gp has referred me quite quickly to the renal department at my hospital and the consultant I saw put me forward for the biopsy .

I had preeclampsia 17 years ago and my kidneys were damaged. My consultant feels that the Ckd has got worse as I’m older and kudneys are struggling, the biopsy is just to rule out other things

Thank you for your advice, I’m expecting to get advice at some stage, lifestyle changes, more exercise…. Avoiding certain food groups… I will see what he says, my appointment is 11 th August

I hope you’re managing your condition ok?

Hi pigs fly and welcome to the group. I have CKD and I am learning how to slow down or stop it from progressing. Have they told you how long it should take to get the results of your biopsy? Have you known you had CKD before this biopsy?

Hi there, yes I get the results on the 11th August, yes I knew I had CKD because I had preeclampsia which damaged my kidneys but it suddenly deteriorated in the last year or so.I’m hoping to slow it down with change of lifestyle

Ahh, I hope they can stabilize and the biopsy comes out clean. So far I’m controlling mine with diet and really trying to transition to plant based but I misunderstood and thought fried zucchini and tomatoes were okay. Not so much apparently. I want to say I’m glad that you’ve known about the kidney problems but that sounds like CKD is a good thing. I really hope everything s okay and your levels come u and you stabilize.
