Finally a referral

Hi All,

After being diagnosed in September 2019 with CKD stage 3, I finally have a referral to an endocrinologist/rheumatologist this September (I have Hashimoto’s too). I have a few more tests to complete before a Nephrologist will see me (complete Renal Panel and urinalysis) and I’ll be getting those tests on Tuesday. I have been very vocal with my PCP about the frequency of testing and the advice I’m receiving. I finally got through to him when the Nephrologist echoed my concerns about the last tests (July 2021 and no Renal Scan or urinalysis). It shouldn’t be this hard. I’m curious what my test results are as I have altered my diet to plant based. We shall see!

Thanks for posting everyone. I have learned more from folks here than my PCP.

I hope the Rheumy and Neph will work together to find some solutions to slow your CKD.

It's hard to get to see a Rheumy, there aren't that many and they are really booked up.

I have Hashimotos and Scleroderma so have seen a Rheumy since I was 25 y/o.

My CKD is related to my autoimmune disease.

Good luck, keep us posted

If you feel better, the test results will surely be better.

Eh, not the guidance of the NIDDK (National Institute of Diabetes Digestive and Kidney Diseases) and I’ll post the link. AAKP and the NKF Kidgo guidelines disagree as well. If you had a cardiac problem would you not want to see a cardiologist or an endocrinologist if a newly diagnosed diabetic? I’m not trying to be a horses butt just a devils advocate…lol! Best of luck!
