Hello Everyone, I hope you all doing well. I got my blood results report yesterday as my doctor has no concerned. But I notice my GFR decline from 30 to 28 in 4 months. Also my urea little bit high 11.6. So Lille worried about these numbers. Any advise will be great for me. Thanks😇

My nephrologist assures me that GFR fluctuates up and down. If it continues to go down without going up, that is when there is a problem. Do what you can to stay healthy and have some fun. 🙂

Just like nonna70, my Dr. says the eGFR can vary. At appointments he focuses on the graph that shows my GFR over time. 2 points is not a lot.

Gfr fluctuates up and down a bit so if it went from 30 to 28 that probably means it’s stable. If it dropped consistently that would be a concern.

Everyone here has given you good information. What you want to look for in your eGFR is trends. Is it consistently decreasing? Or is it bouncing up and down by a few points, and therefore considered stable? Your eGFR can easily change by 2 points when taken at two different times on the same day! Do you know if you were hydrated when the test was taken? Focus on following a kidney-friendly diet, sleeping well, and controlling blood pressure/diabetes if those are issues for you. You've got this!

Hi, Thanks for your reply. As I diagnosed in June 2020 when my baby born premature bcz of severe preeclampsia. That time my GFR was 13%.But slowly slowly it’s increase 30%. I went on holidays to India. Didn’t follow my diet properly may be this is the reason. But how can I reduce my urea?Rest of blood results are ok. Thanks

Elevated blood urea nitrogen (BUN) can be a result of dehydration, too much dietary protein, certain medications (especially antibiotics), among other things. If you overdid the protein on holiday, that could account for your numbers. Get back on your kidney-friendly diet, and get your numbers rechecked when your doctor tells you to. Sounds like you're doing great, taking your eGFR from 13 to 30! And the rest of your blood results are non concerning! Keep up the good work!

The GFR isn't an exact number. It is a range. And if over time (like the majority of us) the number is declining then that is a problem, but depending on what you eat and do and meds you take, that number will vary a bit. That is why is it good to have the same lab do your test because labs vary regarding ranges they use etc.

MY SUGGESTION WOULD GET A RX FOR FARXIGA. I HAVE BEEN TAKING IT SINCE AUG.YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO ASK FOR IT. IF YOUR DR WAS CURRENT HE WOULD ASK YOU. GOOD LUCK.
