gfr dropped from 49 to 42 in three months
Fast dropping gfr: gfr dropped from 49 to 4... - Kidney Disease
Fast dropping gfr
Gfr fluctuates based on things like hydration, diet, stress, etc. My gfr has been in the 70’s then months later up to the 80’s and even 90’s months after that. Then back down to 80’s
I shared this a while ago why getting hang up on 1 specific tests results. It is worth reading, still.

Check for protein leakage in the urine.
That isn't that big of a drop. It could be from how hydrated you were at your test. Your next one may go up again. I just dropped 8 points in one month, but it won't be significant unless it stays lower on next month's test. See how things look in 3 months.
Keep on your plant-based diet or start one if you aren't doing that yet. You can still control things with diet. See the renal dietician again and watch your BP and/or T2D if that's an issue with you.
Stay positive don't stress out, that isn't good for you. My eGFR has hit 28. Attitude is important. See how things look in 3 months. Try to maintain an eGFR in the 40s or try to get it into the 50s which may still be possible.
Best wishes for the future.
Did you have the test at same place? Results can vary from one laboratory to another .
Thanks for that, I’m only recently diagnosed ckd Stage 3 and am presently awaiting an appointment with a renal doctor, to be arranged by the NHS in the UK, this will be free but the waiting time may be a while.
So in the first instance I do have another blood test on 1st February, do I drink water (or eat anything) before my appointment at 09.40am. The online advice is very contradictory.
Thanks.
Hi Venetian,
I usually drink at least
50 oz of water on a given day.
Prior to going for a
blood work, I usually drink at least 20 oz of water to make sure that I am hydrated, but that's me.
Check with the ordering doctor regarding food. If you are diabetic your doctor may want you to eat prior.
Things will all fall into place and you will have a grand team of a GP and Consultant to attend to you and help you keep the CKD in check.
Right now, look at your results as an average.
Please do let us know how things turn out.
