Had labs done today, and my creatinine dropped back to my baseline. What a relief!
Creatinine update: Had labs done today, and... - Kidney Disease
Creatinine update
that is great news!
Ooops my cartoon links got mixed into the other replies sorry.
Great news about labs. They really can fluctuate with hydration etc.
I was wondering if anyone here knows about the magnitude of influence from exercise and the duration of that influence. I have read that it can be quite significant and that athletes and people with more muscle mass routinely have high levels of creatinine but I wonder what level an athlete might return to if resting and how long changes would take to occur.
It really matters because unused excess energy has to be processed by the kidneys so burning them up unloads the kidneys in addition to helping your overall health.
I believe that if you are a "runner" you should stay away from that activity the day before and day of lab work. It seems that your kidneys are still working overtime 24 hours after a run.
It reduces by 1/2 the increase in 36 hours and takes 7 - 10 days of rest to return to normal. I hope that's what you were asking, or did you mean long term continued effects?
So, I do not agree with "resting" to adjust your lab numbers. Its far more important to exercise as often as you can, ideally 5 times a week minimum. Your body will adjust to that
I wasn't suggesting that anyone avoid exercise. I was answering a question about the time it takes. It is expected that if you do STRENUOUS exercise that your creatine will be elevated. That's to be expected. Normal exercise like walking and biking or yoga (light to moderate exercise) won't have an effect on creatinine unlike weight lifting or professional sports. I believed the question was addressing professional athletes and those who do very exertional exercise which is taken into consideration when interpreting lab results. I hope I've clarified my response. I think everyone should do some movement daily, it's good for physical and mental health : )
Good for you!
Yay!!!
