Anyone with salt sentitivity and CKD taking omapatrilat instead of lisinopril. I read a study where salt intake, even a moderate level negates the protective effect of lisinopril on the kidneys. And omapatrilat helps the kidney eliminate salt better which lisinopril has no effect regarding that and the hormons involved.

omapatrilat vs lisinopril
I started having elevated bp with due to protein in the urine. My bp was always fairly low, and now with lisinopril is it tanking. I was told to increase my salt, but I read a study that the protective effects of lisinopril are negated with even moderate salt intake. The study specifically said that most doctors are not aware of this. SO I did more research and found out about omapatrilat and one study comparing it to lisinopril for salt sensitive people found that it was better and it had the inhibitors that the ACEs do. My bp is like 90/60 with 2.5 mg of lisinopril. That study also said that omapatrilat stopped proteinuria.
A couple yes ago when my bp started to come up I was given the Arb, but it gave me a couple. Probably should have had a lower dose. They do take care of my migraines.
I was taking losartan/hct but had to stop because my eGFR kept dropping and my doctor was not sure if the losartan was causing it.
