I know that this subject has probably been covered at length here, but thought I would ask anyway. I have foamy urine most of the time. Sometimes it looks like there was some dish washing soap in the water, as the foam is VERY pronounced. At my last nephrology appointment, I did a urine sample where there was a lot of foam, yet when my nephrologist spun the culture herself, it showed no protein in my urine. All of the urine test I have ever done, including a 24 hour urine catch, have never shown protein in my urine. I don't have diabetes (at least I have never been told I do), and my PCP is very thorough. If the foam isn't caused by protein, does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be caused by? Thanks for any input/ideas.

Foamy urine
There can be a number of reasons for foamy urine. I've included an article below that will explain them. I hope this helps.
If you're properly hydrated, the layperson's test is to see if your urine bubbles in the toilet have all popped within five minutes. If so, you're doing ok.
I know that I'm hydrated enough, so that's not the issue. I will time my foam next time to see how long the bubbles last. Sometimes it's not foamy at all, but other times it is foamy like I put some soap in the water first. I have been trying to track my diet and see if there is a correlation between the times I have really foamy urine, and when I don't. It's a good thing I like mysteries. Thanks for the tip.
Did you ever figure out the cause? Dealing with the same exact issue and labs/urinalysis are normal.
