How is kidney function measured in cases of acute kidney injury?

My lab reports for eGFR have a note saying it is "invalid for acute kidney injury".

What test is ordered as an alternative and how does it work to allow for kidney injury?

I think I read that Serum Cystatin C is more accurate than Creatinine (or better still use both at the same time). Also, Urine Albumin to Creatinine Ratio (UACR). I think UACR is indicative of actual damage.

I had AKI at the beginning of March. I did not get the tests I have mentioned, but I haven't had "invalid for acute kidney injury" on my lab results either.

I wish you the best of luck.
