Trying to save a stranger's life.

Any Idea on how a foreigner who doesn't live in the US can donate a kidney to someone in the US, what are the procedures involved if any. Any responses would be appreciated.

Hi Tglife,

What a kind a generous thing to do; saving a life is a gift.

What I would do is email one of our Administrators; whose contact information is listed as you scroll down.

Another thought is to go to the top left of the page; 6 dots MY HUB. You should be able to locate the Transplant Community ; join and ask.

Hopefully you get the direction that will help.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hi! There are a lot of moving parts to this situation. When you're located in the US, there are strict laws and regs on the matter. In my limited research, I discovered that most (if not the entire) cost involved with the the process is on the recipients here; e.g. their insurance is used to cover the costs of kidney removal and more. In my opinion, it actually might be easier for recipients to travel to the donor's country and have the procedure there. So you'll probably want to research laws and regs and coverages in both nations. I'd love to hear about your outcome.
