Just to let you know you are not alone and we all have some sort of health problem on here.

Of course you are worried about this new health concern, who wouldn't be? On the positive side, you have come through the removal of the first tumour and now you have to build up your strength of mind as well as your body, to deal with this new problem. Easily said, I know. But what is the alternative?

This forum provides a lot of support for us all ; to share our concerns, to ask questions or just to have a chat. Just remember, a problem shared is a problem halved.

Let us know how you are coping.

I send you a big hug and my best wiishes.

😊

Alex, I feel for you. I have just. a sole kidney, too, and the remaining one becomes very precious over the years. However, has the scan shown the size and position of the new tumour? Perhaps there is a possibility that it can be removed safely leaving most of the kidney intact. Try not to worry until you know more - easier said than done, I know. Lots of like people happy to share their vast experience on here so reach out whenever you feel the need, Lots of good luck wishes.🍀

Unfortunately the tumor is right on urinary tract and if they remove it the kidney wouldn't function so....

Search for the best consultants you can find - don’t just accept one opinion but get a second, and even a third if necessary. Lots of good luck wishes.

Hey, Alex. I have one kidney too, due to cancer. 90% have RCC (renal cell carcinoma), 10% of us have TCC (transitional cell carcinoma). TCC meant the entire kidney and ureter had to come out. Caught early enough, those with RCC can have the tumor(s) surgically removed without removal of the kidney. Good luck!

Hi Alex. Do you know if they are removing the whole or part of the kidney? I had total right nephrectomy and partial left nephrectomy. I'm running with 1/2 a kidney! My eGFR results are running between 50 and 60. It can be done, just get opinions from different sources, as mentioned earlier. All I have to do is lead a healthy lifestyle so as not to get dialysis.

I understand your emotions and thoughts. Please know there are many who have lost kidney function and gone on dialysis including my husband. Some have also been accepted into a kidney transplant program, even for senior citizens. And progress is promising regarding implantable bio-artificial kidneys. Loss of kidneys is not a death sentence. People can often function for many years w/o them. So you have a lot to living to do. Stay strong. Stay focused. And don't hesitate to talk to your primary doctor if you need help in lifting your fog. Primary doctors are great in helping heal people inside out. Go forth and look to the future. You have a journey and purpose ahead of you. It's there, waiting for you to discover it. Sending positive vibes you on as you explore new perspectives and directions.
