Hi Doglover,

Not trying to ignore your question, but rashes are not common to CKD. So I am not sure what you are experiencing but I would ask your doctor.

CKD does not commonly cause rashes. They are normally a reaction your body has to an internal or external component and is considered an inflammatory response. Remember to limit NSAIDS. I would say seek out a physician ASAP.

What meds are you on that could cause an allergic reaction? I know that anything with sulfa does that to me.

Please describe your rash. CKD does cause itching due to buildup of toxins but not really a rash. You may be allergic to something. Putting Desitin on a rash may be OK but honestly if you don't know why you have the rash that should be the first step.

Hi, I dont know if this is helpful but I started off some months ago with itchy arms and legs. No rash but skin quite dry. Following this I developed a creepy crawly sensation, just as if a fly was walking on me. neuropathic pains followed in my hands and feet. After rubbing lotions to ease the itchyness I mentioned all these symptoms at my next doctors appointment. Results of my recent blood tests were also back and showed I was anaemic. I was then put on a course of iron. More tests followed. The result was I had chronic kidney disease and was also prediabetic. Apparently the dry, itchy skin, neuropathic nerve pains kidney disease and prediabetes were possibly all linked..

I would think if you have had this itchy skin for a while it could well be a symptom or side effect of something else. See your doctor and he or she will at least be able to get to the bottom of your problem and prescribe the the right lotions to ease the problem. They should also be aware that it could be linked to another problem you may have and take the appropriate action.
